Sawyer Bennett does it again! Ford and Viv were amazing and once I started reading I couldn't put the book down. The book was funny, hot and so well written. Save the (wood)peckers!
Affair of the Heart
This book is part of the Legal Affairs Series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Ford Daniels is a partner in the legal firm of Knight and Payne. He finds himself representing a property development company whose housing development has been brought to a halt by an animal rights attorney, Viveka Jones. Seems there is an endangered species of woodpecker inhabiting trees on the property. These two have their work cut out for them. Not only are they bound to represent their clients, they are attracted to each other.
Sawyer does it again with clever phrasing, wonderful characters, and unforeseen plot twists. This series is just so much fun and so sexy. If you love Sawyer, you will love this book. If you are new to Sawyer, this is a good place to start.
Fun, light read
You had me at the title! The Pecker Briefs is a fun legal comedy. I enjoyed the laughs I got out of reading Viveka and Ford and their banter.
The legal series always draw me in as I learn new things and you know the key players will always be from opposing teams that add in that extra bit of tension.
Hope that we get to see a story around that firecracker Midge.
Ford Daniels, a high profile attorney in an upscale law firm, is called to a construction site to help solve an issue. Upon arrival, Ford discovers a beautiful woman chained to a tree and a very upset client. It seems as though an injunction has been signed to halt construction to save the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. Hence, the reason behind the woman chained to the tree. Ford's client, a sexist jerk, is beyond livid as every day he doesn't build equates to a huge loss of money.
Viveka Jones, former model turned animal rights attorney, has dedicated her life to animals after seeing one beaten by its owner. Viveka often takes cases pro-bono or uses money she's saved from her days as a model to finance her cases. Thus, barely making enough money to pay the bills. She lives simply and enjoys what she does. As long as she has her best friend and doesn't have to see her mom too often, she's happy. After meeting Ford, she begins to wonder if her long suppressed dreams of "happily ever after" could come true....
I absolutely loved this novel! There are very few books that I read in one sitting, but this was one of them. Ford and Viveka's ability to put their competitiveness aside for the possibility of love was HUGE. This is the first novel I've read in the Legal Affairs series. While I didn't feel as though I was "lost" or needed more background information, I can't wait to go back to read Reeve and Leary's story! I enjoyed Viveka's witty banter, strength, gusto, and love. I also enjoyed Ford's experienced a Lamaze class. That was laugh out loud funny! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
A must read
Having never read a book in the Legal Affairs series, I was quite surprised at the depth of the non-main characters. Obviously, this book is about Ford and Viveka. However, I felt like I knew Leary, Reeve and Midge as well as Frannie just from reading this book.
I love that Ford wants to stand up and help/defend V, but she is not a helpless female. I love her strength and determination even when battling with Ford. Even though they are skirting ethical boundaries, they act aboveboard at all costs in public.
I think the biggest surprise for me was Midge. I love that lady. She is priceless in this story. She just walks into Fords office knowing V and Ford are behind closed doors with the glass frosted. She knows something is going on between them, but she quietly supports it, knowing ethically it shouldn't be happening. Then when she calls Ford and asks if V is with him and their laying naked in bed. The reader knows she knows what they've been doing. But the whopper was when she told them that she told Drake Powell, the land developer, that she was remapping the subdivision to protect the woodpecker. After everything he did to win the case he had to be having a coronary after that conversation. I wish we had seen his reaction.
Anyway, this was a good book and very enjoyable. A definite 4.5 star read. Now, I need to go back and read the other books in the series.
Fun and Hot read!!!

The Pecker Briefs is the 7th book in the Legal Affairs series. This book can be read as a standalone. This book is a fun, sweet, fast read.
Viveka Jones grew up as a model, when she got tired of her mom living vicariously through her, spending all her money she went through proper legal channels to become an emancipated minor. But she had more aspirations and put herself through school and law school and became an attorney. Now she's an animal defense attorney, and while it doesn't pay well she is happy. When she's asked to take on a case about the red cockaded woodpeckers that are on the endangered species list and a big construction company wants to level trees that there are nests in Viveka will not stop until they are saved. Ford Daniels works for Knight & Payne law firm, and is a hot shot attorney for them. When he gets a call from his client about land he's trying to excavate, the last thing he expects to find is a gorgeous female attorney chained to a tree, and now his opposing counsel.
I really enjoyed both characters tremendously. Viveka was smart, beautiful, down to earth, strong and Ford was smart, good looking, strong, alpha and caring. They had great chemistry, and watching their relationship evolve was a lot of fun. The storyline was fun, sweet, hot and steamy. I really enjoyed the secondary characters, loved seeing Leary and Viveka develop a friendship. I lived in NC for 7 years and on Ft Bragg there is a lot of protected land for the red cockaded woodpeckers. I've been there, as I was stationed there. I loved having that bit of fact in the story. Also gave the story some credibility and got me deeper involved in it. Overall loved the story. Can't wait for the next book in the series! Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!
Sexy, Charming & Swoonworthy!
Flawless from start to finish, with smart, witty, dialog, the perfect amount of sweet and charming moments as well as sizzling chemistry and breath-holding sex scenes. Everything about the storyline and the characters captivated me. Ford and Viveka are delicious together. Between how charming these two are together and wanting to swoon forever as Ford transforms from his Playboy ways, into a open caring man, I was in book heaven. Every moment spent with these characters was an ultimate pleasure. Filled with laugh out loud moments, belly flutters, and electric sparks zapping me as I read. I was a goner, charmed beyond words. Sawyer Bennett sure knows how to capture and secure the heart of her readers. There is such beauty and charm, in this Flawless, Delicious Romance. I can’t recommend this enough. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. And all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Cute and Funny! =)
The Pecker Briefs was a funny and cute read. I really enjoyed Ford and Viveka and their relationship. They're adorable together. They have some differences, but they also have a lot of similarities which works for their relationship. Ford is really cute with Viv and says and does a lot of sweet things to and for her. The storyline and concept was cute, especially how it all starts for them, and of course there are a few rough patches along the way. It made me smile when Leary and Reeve made several appearances. The epilogue was really cute, I just also wish there was one a year later as well.

The Pecker Briefs is such a fun read! Ford and Viveka will entertain you from beginning to end! Theirs humor, steam, angst, lawyers, activists...loved it! Ford's first meeting with Viveka definitely had me laughing out!!!

It took me a minute to remember who Ford Daniels was, (I know, bad me *slaps own hand* but it’s been more than a minute since I read a book in the Legal Affairs series) so I did what any good reader does, I go to GR and scroll through all the book and that’s when it hit me.
OMG. THAT. FORD!! (I may have squeed a little)
So, with that knowledge I dove in and loved The Pecker Briefs (Yes, the title makes me giggle, I admit it). It was all kinds of swoon worthy, sweet, smexy and low on angst ~ which really suited the mood I was in when I started reading ~ and while I didn’t devour the words, I enjoyed each and every one of them.
Ford is just...everything. I mean the goodness that is this man is mind blowing. He’s sweet, charming, can be Alpha AF when needed (Like OMG Smexy times), compassionate and simply a genuine human being all around.
Viveka is beautiful inside and out. I swear I had a girl crush on her and kinda want to be her when I grow up. She had an interesting life growing up and has worked really hard to get where she is. She may not be rolling in the dough, but she loves what she does and is quite content with her life.
Ford and Viveka together were so much fun. From their first collision there were sparks and it only grew from there. The smexy between them was nuclear...I mean HOT! But outside of the bedroom they were even better. They respected each other and I loved the open communication they had, there was no game playing going, it was simply two people spending time together and finding that they wanted more.
As I said in the beginning the angst is low, think opposite end of the spectrum from Friction, but there is some drama and it does keep things interesting. I loved catching up with Leary and Reeve, who were a lot of fun. And then there is Midge Payne...this woman is everything! I swear I was just as excited about getting more time with her as I was to experience Ford falling in love.
So if you’re in the mood for a swoon worthy, smexy read that’s low on angst then The Pecker Briefs is a must read!
